Running 3 Clinics, Raising Kids, Avoiding Burnout: How Lucy Built Her GP Business Without Losing Herself
LISTEN NOW
If you’re a GP or Practice Owner who’s ambitious but exhausted, this episode is just what you need.
Dr Lucy Randall shares how she went from UK GP partner to co-owning three Australian clinics without sacrificing her family, her sanity, or her standards. You’ll hear the practical moves that matter: buying existing sites (not shiny fit-outs), standing up a minimum viable clinic quickly, and reinvesting profits with discipline.
We unpack the real levers for scaling plus Lucy’s refreshingly honest recruitment playbook that actually works in a tight market. We also go deep on leading through Medicare and policy changes with transparency and collaboration so your doctors feel supported (and stay).
Finally, Lucy talks candidly about building with a life partner, creating boundaries that protect home life, and ditching the guilt by outsourcing low-value tasks so you can be present with your kids and present for your team.
If you want a bigger clinic and a better life, this is your next right step.

QUOTES
“You can run a good practice and be profitable and still be fair to your GPs.” – Dr. Lucy Randall
“Pace yourself and not try to do everything all at once. There’ll be twenty different things you want to do, but nothing gets done if you focus on too many. So it’s about paring it back to what’s most important right now.” – Dr. Lucy Randall
“I’m a big fan of minimum viable product. Just get moving, get something fit for purpose, and then worry about fancy later. You minimise risk that way.” – Dr. Sachin Patel
“A key part of leadership is for your team to feel safe to bring issues to you. If they feel there’s a cabal or something going on that they can’t enter into, then you don’t get the problems raised. And if you don’t know those, you can’t solve them.” – Dr. Sachin Patel
